Speed post, go!

Trying to post this in under a minute - Go!

Did the same workout as the past few days

15 pushups
20-25 squats

15 situps
As many as possible in 20 minutes.

Ate super healthy today, palelolithic lunch, breakfast and dinner.

What I ate today
- Lettuce
- Egg
- Sausage
- Salad
- Green Tea
- Sardines
- Salad
- Energy Bar
- Protein Shake
- A few handfuls of popcorn

Pretty good day diet wise.

Tomorrow is training downtown -- Get to hit the concrete for the first time in about a week or two.

Speed post: Failed. Oh well :(

It's Friday, Friday...

Hello!

Today was a day of very great successes. First, I ate my first paleolithic lunch, which I posted about yesterday. This lunch consisted of *drum roll*

(Salad)
- Romaine Lettuce
- Cherry Tomatoes
- Onions
- Bacon
(Brazil Nuts)

I also grabbed an orange juice (100% juice, nothing else in it) since I couldn't drink milk. Lunch was filling and I wasn't hungry until much later. I think this palelolithic thing is working out quite well, at least for now. So -- That's two paleolithic meals in one day for me, which I also managed
yesterday, but that was breakfast and dinner. Things are coming along well!

Epic Lunch Time!

So, I think today was a pretty phenomenal day for me.

I spent the afternoon hanging out with my lovely friend Marissa (Hey grrfrand ;D) at a coffee shop and had a nice chance to talk with her. I won't get too much into it since this blog is more about my journey in parkour than my personal life, but she's a pretty fantastic best friend :)

Anyway.

Some training -- About time!

After almost a week of not being able to train due to a combination of my knees and bad weather, I finally had a chance to train today. At my school is an open courtyard with a wall about eight feet high, and I spent nearly all of lunch today doing wallups. My footwork on the approach is getting really fluid, and I don't really stutter with my feet at all anymore. When I first land into the wall, due to its height, I usually don't kick the opposite leg up to gain more height since I have plenty of momentum going upwards already, and when I do it doesn't quite make it all the way up the wall. My toes will be about an inch below the top of it at the peak of my jump, which is pretty awkward once I'm up there. Instead, I usually let the opposite leg hang and then swing it up once I'm in a position to get on top of the wall. As I develop more strength and flexibility I'm going to try and see if I can swing up with my leg on this wall as I would with a higher wall up and see if I can land my foot on top of it without needing to do a kip to get up. Hopefully with practice it will get quicker and more fluid.

Storm Freerun - Volume 1

Simply inspirational.

Another day.

Had another chance to workout today at my girlfriends. I need to keep doing this so I can get in the habit of stretching and working out on non-training days, which seem to be pretty frequent with all of this rain.

Anyway.

Monday

Back from spring break, and I realize now that Summer really needs to hurry along. School's just not my gig right now, and I'd much rather be training than anything else. Anyway.

Easter!

Went out and had a nice brunch with my Brother, Mom, and my girlfriend. Later went to a park and I did some light training there to test my knee's and they felt pretty good. Hopefully by next Friday I'll be completely 100% again, as it's looking that way.

Flu :S

Yesterday, 4/24/11, was supposed to be an awesome training day with the usual crowd of people, along with some other ridiculously talented people from outside of the mad town. Despite the knee pain I was suffering, I decided to go anyway and train lightly or simply just watch for the day. I didn't go to the gym on Friday the day before due to the knee pain I've been suffering either, seeing as I'd rather not develop a chronic condition.

First Goal Post

I've been doing Parkour for only a month now (3/18/11 is the first time I stepped foot in monkeybar) and I've progressed significantly in that time. However, I still have a very, very long way to go.

First Diet Post

My current plan is to follow the paleolithic diet as closely as possible. I'm going to start by doing it with breakfast, then moving onto lunch (which may be difficult to do) and then finally dinner. This will help me ease into the change in diet gradually rather than jumping in headfirst and feeling awful and potentially giving up.

First Training Log

4/21/11

Went to Monona's Dream Park with two of the guys who got me interested in Parkour to begin with - Morgan and DJ.

First Workout Post

This is the first time I'm posting on my workout plan.

As it stands so far, here is what I have (Keep in mind I came up with this myself and I haven't discussed it with a professional trainer, yet)

First post -- Welcome to the blog!

Hello, readers!

Welcome to Momentum - A Traceur's Journey. This blog is designed to document my progression through my development in parkour. While I do not believe I deserve the title of "Traceur" yet, I am using it as I cannot find a better word to suit the blog. I will try and post as much relevant and interesting content as possible, so that those of you are interested can keep track of my own progress as I develop further and further. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I will sharing my experiences with all of you.

Here are some of the things I plan to cover in this blog.
